Children Light Up The Quayside on the 24th November

Year 6 Outside the Baltic

The year 6 children ready to brighten up the quayside.

It might have been a rain soaked evening in November but that didn’t dampen the spirits or the voices of the year 6 children. They had been asked to help the Lady Mayoress of Gateshead to switch on the Christmas lights on the banks of the Gateshead Quayside.

Lovely singing children

The event took place outside the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts, just beside the Millennium Bridge. The children were in fine voice and sang a variety of Christmas carols old and new. Both parents and teachers agree that the children’s voices helped to brighten up an evening when the weather was so miserable.

Enjoying a cup of hot chocolate

Afterwards the children enjoyed a heart warming cup of hot chocolate with the Lady Mayoress.
