World Book Day
Dear Parents,
Next Friday, 7th March is World Book Day. To celebrate this event, we are encouraging our children to come to school dressed up as a character from one of the legends our international partners have researched.
The legends and stories are from Ireland, Portugal and France. They can be found on our school website which is www.blaydon-st-josephs.org.uk You don’t have to worry about speaking these languages as they have all been translated into English.
If you wish to chose an English story, Key Stage 2 have been looking at English legends and Key Stage 1 have been looking at traditional stories. So I’m sure there is something for all.
Yours sincerely,
Mr D. A. Hannah
International Dimensions Co-ordinator

Year 4 Are The Champions!
Last Wednesday, 8 year 4 children took part in a Multi-skills Challenge event at St. Thomas More High School.
All the activities involved dribbling, running, throwing and target hitting. There were 10 different activities. We liked throwing the ball at the target the best. Our worst event seemed to be getting the basketball through the hoop, but we tried really hard in all the events.
At the end of the competition the points from all the events were collected. We hoped that we had got a medal but to our surprise we actually won the event beating Highfield St. Joseph’s by one point.
We received gold medals and a lovely big trophy. Team managers Miss Shepherdson and Mr Hannah said we were fantastic and good sportsmen.
