Piglets, Lambs and Llamas
On Wednesday 7th May, the Reception Class went to Whitehouse Farm on the bus for our summer trip. Mr Hannah, Miss Eley and Mrs Gibbons all came to help us.

When we got off the bus we met our guide Toni and she took us to put our packed lunches in the barn. Then we started to look at the animals.
In the barn, we saw some piglets, we fed the cows, llamas and the lambs. After that, we had a ride on the tractor, it was very bumpy but we enjoyed it. Then we went into the maze and we all managed to find our way out! We also had a race down a field where we had to run to Miss Eley who took our photograph.
In the barn we saw other creatures like a big spider, an iguana and a Dragon Lizard, which Mr Hannah held.
We had a lovely packed lunch in a big barn and at the end of the day we all went on the soft play – it was great fun.
Here are some pictures to show what an interesting time we had.

Then it was time to get on the bus and go back to school, after a lovely day learning lots about the farm.

Fantastic Easter Bonnets!
We couldn't believe our eyes when the younger children came to school wearing their Easter Bonnets. The quality of the work that had gone into producing the many hats was excellent. All of the children were very proud of thyeir creations.
Here are just a few of the hats for you to make your own judgements about.

They were absolutely great!

Jolly Phonics Evening for Parents
Dear Parent / Guardian
As you may know, we have recently started a new scheme for teaching phonics in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. The scheme is called Jolly Phonics and has proved very successful in teaching children the key letter sounds and how they are used to spell and read words. The scheme works by linking the sounds to movements which help children to segment and blend new words.
We would like to invite you to come along and learn the sounds and actions so that they can be implemented at home. They are a lot of fun and make reading and writing more enjoyable for your child. The evening will take place on Tuesday 13th November at 3.30p.m. – 4.15p.m. There will be a teacher to supervise children in another room whilst the meeting takes place.
I appreciate that some may not be able to attend, but what you learn will be extremely valuable in aiding your child’s progression.
We look forward to seeing you.
